The Mortensens: Diesels 1st Birthday

Diesel celebrated his first birthday on the 4th of September. I still remember sitting in the movie theater with Matt, Tim and Wendi and feeling contractions but not wanting to leave because 1- the movie was good and 2- movies are expensive. So I sat through the movie and after Matt and I rushed home to grab a few things and rushed to the hospital. I even told Matt that evening as we were headed to drop the boys off that this could be our last date as parents of two. Not thinking anything of it but I guess I knew what was to come. Diesel was born a couple hours later and the love and joy that he has brought to our family is unbelievable. Diesel was a very hard baby would cry all the time and when I say all the time I mean all the time whether he was being held, had a clean diaper and full tummy or anything he would cry. If he wasn't crying we would think something was wrong with him. When he finally grew out of that stage and I could actually enjoy our sweet baby, the bond between him and I grew even stronger. He definitely is a mommas boy and I can't get enough of his cute little face and smile. Looking back on this year I finally understand why I miscarried before Diesel and why Diesel was given to us when he was. It is because of this sweet little spirited boy that I made it through the last year. When I was having a hard day and being a single mommy to three little boys was getting the best of me (no I wasn't single but Matt was working out of town) all I had to do was look at him and he would smile and my whole thinking process would change and my day would go so much smoother. It's amazing how someone who is so little can radiate the pure love of our Father in Heaven and leave me feeling so blessed and loved. Diesel your brothers, daddy and I love you very much and are so glad to have you as a part of our family.
